Zvrokruh – CD

The Zodiac is the result of an unusual meeting between a flautist, a pianist, a string quartet and a vocal ensemble, and ranks among the boldest experiments in Czech music of the 1970s. This celebrated 1977 album is one of Ji Stivns most important and popular recordings, bringing together the artistry of Ji Stivn and Gabriel Jon, the voices of the Khn Mixed Choir and the traditional sound of the Talich Quartet. Jazz, classical music and choral singing meet in three original compositions: Elements, Moods and a work inspired by the signs of the zodiac, where jazz blends with classical and world music into a colourful, emotionally rich whole. After almost thirty years, this remarkable album from Czech musical history finally returns on CD.
