In this Czech-language thriller, Kate Burkholder, police chief of the Ohio town of Painters Mill, helps investigators search for missing Amish girls. There are no clues, the old-fashioned Amish community is reluctant to share information, and the situation becomes even worse when one of the missing girls is found dead. Kate also suffers a devastating personal blow when another missing person is someone very close to her, causing her to lose the ability to remain detached from the case. Then she finds a lead in the most unlikely place.
