Zpv Vclav Neck – CD

This Czech-language CD contains 25 songs from Vclav Necks first album, recorded in 1965 and 1966 during his rapid rise to fame. The collection reflects the musical variety of the period, bringing together almost-swing, almost-western, almost-big-beat and almost-comedy songs, held together by Necks boyishly optimistic voice. The recordings were supported by musicians associated with Rokoko Theatre, the Czechoslovak Radio Dance Orchestra and the Mefisto band, alongside compositions by Ji Baant, Jaromr Vomka and Bohuslav Ondrek, with lyrics by Jan Schneider and Ivo Fischer. Ten bonus songs selected by Milo Skalka further confirm the quality of this repertoire. The debut album is presented in a deliberately retro style, including its cover photograph, while the easily remembered, witty and colourful songs continue to appeal to listeners of all ages. The tracklist includes Hallo, mademoiselle, Tbork pro dva, Pro se pt, A louky rozkvetou, Vl mky, Ze soboty na nedli, Lkoice, Hb, Dostal jsem kuli, Tu kytaru jsem koupil kvli tob, Spm, Den en, Zrovna tahle, Stn katedrl, Bim bam, Tahle basa, Tenhle blej msc, Zvote o patro n, Vypalte znamen, Dlouhej nos, Stbrn fltna, a-la-la-la-li, Kdy vtr zafouk, Moe, to nen Tlinskej rybnk and Ryt sv doby.
