Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) is assigned to identify the bomber who destroyed a commuter train a few hours earlier and is planning an even more devastating explosion in the heart of Chicago. A highly classified program called the Source Code enables Colter to briefly inhabit another man on a train heading towards disaster in a parallel reality. Each time he returns, he has only eight minutes to discover the bombers identity. The more he learns in the parallel reality, the more certain he becomes that he can prevent the catastropheif time does not run out first.
