This Czech-language hardcover book presents the life and work of Yves Saint Laurent, who elevated haute couture to an art form, transformed fashion shows into breathtaking spectacles and modernized womens fashion through androgynous classics. Born in Algeria, Saint Laurent quickly rose from young fashion student to Christian Diors right-hand man. After Diors death, he took over the fashion house, then founded his own YSL brand in 1961. He created the famous Le Smoking trouser suit and geometric Mondrian dresses, turned the leather jacket into everyday clothing and astonished the fashion world by combining luxury with dramatic art. The book is written by British fashion journalist, stylist and author Emma Baxter-Wright, who also wrote Little Book of Chanel.
