White Rabbit, Red Wolf Pollock Tom (2018)

Frances Hardinge describes this book as a gripping and treacherous thriller that leaves all certainties behind. Seventeen-year-old Peter Blankman is a maths prodigy who suffers from severe panic attacks. He is afraid of everything and finds comfort in the orderly, logical world of mathematics and in his family: his scientist mother, his tough twin sister Bel, and Ingrid, his only friend. When his mother is found stabbed before an awards ceremony and his sister disappears, Peter is drawn into a world of espionage and violence where state secrets and family secrets intertwine. Armed only with his extraordinary analytical abilities, he may discover that his greatest weakness is also his greatest strength.
