This philosophical book, in Czech, presents Jean-Luc Nancys experience of undergoing a heart transplant at the beginning of the 1990s. One of Frances most significant living philosophers, Nancy has written on contemporary human society, finitude, the body and major philosophers including Marx and Heidegger. Influenced particularly by Jacques Derridas concept of deconstruction and collaborating with Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, he explores human vulnerability and the illusory idea that our bodily existence is a clearly bounded fortress.
