This updated Czech-language civics textbook for the eighth year of primary school contains newly developed chapters on lawful and unlawful conduct. They explain the importance of legal regulation in important relationships, such as ownership and employment, and include examples of commonly encountered contracts, including sales, rental, work and carriage contracts. The book also explains consumer rights, including complaints, as well as the causes and consequences of corruption and the unlawfulness of violating traffic rules. In the section on people, love and marriage, the chapters have been rearranged to place greater emphasis on the social dimension of sexual relationships, marriage and family. The textbook follows the Czech Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education. Each chapter begins with motivating texts designed to arouse pupils interest, followed by explanatory material and problem-solving tasks that develop their thinking. Group activities support cooperation and communication skills, while cross-curricular links refer to related material in other books in the series. The textbook also includes cross-cutting themes, group and project tasks, terms in English and German, revision and creative activities, interesting facts, internet work and extracts from literature, and is also available in interactive form. It develops and expands on material from the previous two books and introduces new topics that continue in the ninth year, especially human abilities and their application in society, the state and the legal system.
