Vatikn – Odhalen hchy Svatho msta Miko Vclav (2021)

This Czech-language book examines the Vatican, regarded as the historically most significant sacred place in the world and one shrouded in considerable mystery. Although the Roman Catholic Church has always proclaimed Christian principles of goodness and kindness, scandals and corruption have recently made it the target of strong criticism. Journalists and researchers therefore focus on the mysteries taking place behind the Vaticans inaccessible walls. The book describes the case of Emanuela Orlandi, which revealed facts surrounding money laundering at the Vatican Bank and its partial cooperation with the Mafia. The Vaticans credibility has also been damaged in recent decades by numerous cases of children sexually abused by Catholic priests. Its wealth comes not only from donations accumulated over centuries, but also, for example, from the forced labour of women in shelters known as Magdalene laundries, where Catholic nuns supervised prostitutes and single mothers. These may sound unbelievable, but the book documents and explains all of them as facts.
