Universum – CD

Ondej Gregor Brzobohats second album is positive and dance-oriented, while some of its lyrics encourage listeners to reflect on the world around them. Produced by Brzobohat himself, the album moves between pop, funk, soul and jazz and was recorded with his concert band. Guests include the string ensemble Epoque Orchestra led by Vt Petrek, a brass section directed by Miroslav Hloucal, and Roman Hol of Monkey Business. The ten new songs include two duets: Vojtch Dyk joins Brzobohat on the playful song We Like Jazz, while Marta Jandov appears on Too Much. Some of the songs were developed through live playing in the studio and had already been performed during the Universum Tour, giving the finished recording a natural, cohesive sound. The prominent brass and string arrangements further enhance the result. Brzobohat wrote all the music and lyrics himself, and the personal character of the album is reflected in its cover, which is based on his distinctive mismatched eyes rather than a conventional portrait.
