This childrens CD presents a colourful selection of lullabies by Pavel Jurkovi, a singer, musician and teacher who introduced several generations of talented young musicians to the world of music. Experienced parents know how effectively a lullaby can soothe a child to sleep, and this collection offers more than the familiar Hal bel. Jurkovi wrote around one hundred lullabies specifically for children of people close to him; twenty-two are included here, selected partly by the composer himself and partly by his musical friends, led by soprano Hana Blakov. Her gentle voice is complemented by Tom Krls velvet baritone and a group of excellent musicians. The songs, in Czech, reflect Jurkovis love of Moravian folk music and his knowledge of Baroque hymnbooks, with poetic arrangements based mainly on Baroque and folk instruments. Charming booklet illustrations complete the collection, in which children and their parents or grandparents can find a favourite lullaby.
