Uhnutiny uhnut Rytov Helena (2015)

Uhnutiny is not found in any dictionary, only in the personal dictionary of a grandfather living in a Prague basement flat, a building representative and informer faithfully serving the Communist comrades. This realistically written story takes readers back to a time when abbreviations such as the Public Security Corps, the Socialist Youth Union, the University of Marxism-Leninism, the State Security and the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia were part of everyday life, alongside the local committee, Tuzex and Rud prvo. With a light touch and an engaging style, Helena Rytov writes in this story from grim times about what became of the grandfathers granddaughter Libue, how she made her way through life in an exemplary Czechoslovak-Soviet marriage, who objected to Rejek and how the grandfather ended up in the rubbish chute beside the lift. This is not a game of dodgeball, but vybka. The book is in Czech.
