Madita does not particularly like the end of the year, with all its hustle, bustle and snow. Winter is also connected with unpleasant memories for her, making it the most difficult time of year. She would rather fall asleep and wake up in spring. Her niece and young nephew, however, will not let her give in to sadness. They persuade Madita to write down everyones wishes together, because when else might wishes come true if not at this time of year? Madita commits her own desires to paper, unaware that the letter will not end up in the bin where she throws it, but with someone who would do anything to make her smile again.
