Tradice – promny – identita: Lidov odv a tanec na Valasku jako zdroje inspirace Kuminkov Eva (2026)

This scholarly book by ethnologist Eva Kuminkov contributes to disciplinary and transdisciplinary discussions about the nature of changes in traditional folk culture. It examines the processes that, despite numerous difficulties, historical upheavals, political changes, and cultural and social transformations, have allowed expressions of traditional folk culture to survive into the threshold of the third millennium. Using the male odzemek dance in the Wallachia region and folk dress in the Ronov area as examples, the author traces the changes they have undergone since the late nineteenth century. She explores the significance of traditional dress and the odzemek in forming local and regional identity, as well as the role of tradition bearers, institutions and individuals who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to understanding, preserving and passing on these elements of cultural heritage.
