Toulky eskou minulost 15 – Zlat vk esk literatury Voln Zdenk (2019)

This Czech-language book, the fifteenth volume in the series, focuses entirely on the history of Czech literature during its golden age in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It traces the development of literature from the emergence of its first strong creative generation, which could already draw on Mj, Karel Hynek Mchas romantic poem. The book humanises the untouchable idols familiar from Czech lessons and brings to light many overlooked relationships and facts that are now preferably left unmentioned. It portrays revered classics as men and women with all their good and bad qualities, loves and hatreds, quarrels with one another and jealousy of others success. The text is based on thorough research and omits none of the important facts, connections or significant works that marked the development of Czech literature. Entertaining as well as informative, it offers an accessible overview suitable, for example, for grammar-school students, and may make the Czech literature school-leaving examination considerably easier.
