This Czech-language audiobook presents a gripping existential novel with elements of a mystical thriller, performed by Miroslav Donutil, Tajana Medveck, Igor Bare, Ivana Uhlov, Lubo Vesel, Pavel Batk, Eva Hacurov and Stanislav Balk. Around Velk Losiny in 2017, the life stories of three unusual characters intertwine, leading to a fateful encounter that completes a tense family saga inspired by real events and reaching back to the Second World War. What dark secret did former judge and successful writer Roman Heyduk inherit from his late father, a respected presiding judge? What brought a mysterious, remarkably beautiful elderly German woman to the region, despite her advanced age, and what connected her to Heyduks father? And what is concealed by the old man whose face is partly hidden by a mask and who is nicknamed Nosferatu at the local retirement home? The story of identity, guilt and punishment, revenge and forgiveness leads listeners into concentration camps, communist labour camps, the brooding Jesenky landscape and luxurious international salons, offering insight into criminals and their victims while exploring the enduring desire to live and fundamental questions connected with human fate and our own history. The recording lasts 18 hours and 8 minutes.
