The Wall – Growing up Behind the Iron Curtain Ss Petr (2008)

This unique book introduces young readers to life under communism in Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1989, when ordinary people lived, worked and dreamed behind the Iron Curtain. The long-awaited project by the Czech artist and writer Petr Ss, who lives in New York, combines drawings, comics and authentic visual diaries in a full-colour edition. Vclav Havel describes the book as essential reading for children and their parents who think freedom is a given. Petr Ss presents it as his report from the past and a warning about what could happen again, observing that walls continue to be built in Israel, on the Mexican border and in st nad Labem.
