The Waiting: Pre-order The Brand New Ballard & Bosch Thriller Connelly Michael (2024)

LAPD Detective Renee Ballard tracks a terrifying serial rapist whose trail has gone cold with help from the newest volunteer to the Open-Unsolved Unit, Patrol Officer Maddie Bosch, Harry Boschs daughter. A DNA connection between a recently arrested twenty-three-year-old man and a serial rapist and murderer who vanished twenty years ago reveals that the suspects father was the Pillowcase Rapist, who terrorized the city of Los Angeles for five years. But when Ballard and her team move against him, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal obstacles. At the same time, Ballards badge, gun, and identification are stolen, a theft she cannot report without giving her enemies in the department the ammunition they need to end her detective career. Investigating the burglary alone puts her in greater danger, forcing her to seek help outside the department and leading her to Harry Bosch. Meanwhile, Maddie joins the cold case unit to investigate cases with Ballard, but Renee soon discovers that she has an ulterior motive for accessing the citys library of lost souls.
