The Secret of Golden Island: An action-packed summer adventure from the Costa Award-winning author Farrant Natasha (2024)

When Skylar meets Yakov, she is still reeling from the news that her grandfather has suffered a stroke, while Yakov is desperate to return home. Skylars old friends feel sorry for her but are too afraid to speak to her, and Yakovs friends are far away, scattered across continents by war. The two children recognize in each other a need for friendship, along with a restless refusal to accept what life has dealt them and a reckless desire to change things for the better. So when a competition is announced to win nearby Golden Island, they decide to enter. But how can two children possibly win an island, and what will they risk to make it their own? This action-packed summer adventure is told with compassion and empathy by Natasha Farrant, author of Voyage of the Sparrowhawk, winner of the 2020 Costa Childrens Book Award.
