The Russian Catastrophe and Chances to Overcome It Zubov Andrej Borisovich (2023)

In 2022, Andrej Zubov was forced to leave his homeland and accepted an invitation from the rector of Masaryk University to lecture in Brno. This book brings together his lectures, whose Czech title translates as The Russian Catastrophe and Chances to Overcome It. Through the study of Russian history, the author seeks answers to two closely related questions: why has Russia been a constant source of aggression throughout the twentieth century, from the Bolshevik coup onwards, and is there hope that it will undergo radical change, cease to be an aggressor and become a peaceful, democratic state like the countries of the EU and NATO? Professor Zubov believes that his texts can contribute to a better understanding of the tragic fate of his people over past and present centuries, the processes that led to the war, and the building of a more lasting peace after it ends. The contents are in English.
