The Making of Donald Trump Johnston David Cay

Drawing on nearly 30 years of reporting, interviews, financial records, court documents and public statements, investigative reporter David Cay Johnston examines Donald Trumps rise to prominence and power. He traces the arc of Trumps career from his familys fortune, childhood in Queens and education through his early career, real-estate empire and successful presidential campaign. The book portrays Trump as a media-savvy entrepreneur and politically powerful public figure whose career is also marked by legal troubles and mounting controversy. Johnston considers the origins of the family wealth, the development of a business empire described as too big to fail, and the influences that shaped Trumps public life. Figures ranging from Woody Guthrie and prosecutor Roy Cohn to mob bosses, high rollers and ordinary American voters appear in the story of his expanding orbit. The result is a closely documented account of the man whose influence has had a profound effect on American public life.
