The Fourth Man Baer Robert (2022)

In this insider account, former CIA operative Robert Baer tells the story of how a KGB mole is believed to have risen to the highest ranks of the CIA. After the Cold War, US intelligence captured three prominent Russian spies, but their arrests left important questions unanswered and fuelled long-standing rumours of another mole, known as the Fourth Man. Three pioneering female counterintelligence veterans were assigned to uncover him. Through determination and expertise, they reached a shocking conclusion with dramatic consequences for American security, both then and now. Baer recounts the world of Russian espionage and American intelligence, exploring the implications for the rise of Vladimir Putin and international relations with Russia. The result is a real-life spy thriller with echoes of John Le Carr.
