The Bee Sting: Shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2023 Murray Paul (2024)

Winner of the Irish Book of the Year 2023 and shortlisted for the Booker Prize, the Nero Book Awards and the Writers Prize for Fiction, this tragicomic novel follows the Barnes family as their fortunes collapse. Until recently, they ran the biggest business in town; now they are on the brink of bankruptcy. Dickie and Imeldas marriage is barely holding together, straight-A student Cass is spiralling out of control, and PJ is hopelessly indebted to the school bully. Meanwhile, ghosts of old mistakes are emerging from the past, while everyone is too caught up in the present to notice the danger approaching. Paul Murrays generous, immersive and sharp-witted novel combines devastating emotion with dark humour, and has been named a Book of the Year by numerous publications, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Sunday Times, The Economist, The Guardian and The Washington Post.
