Temnota kra lesom (slovensky) (2026)

In a dark forest, a dead teenage boy and a drowned horse are found within a single day. At first, police officer Alexander Stenborg does not connect the two cases. He and his pregnant wife Sofia have recently moved to the small, idyllic town of Ormaryd, where they hope to make a fresh start. During the investigation, Alexander is troubled by a part of the animal, its eyes: it did not look as though it were still alive. Was it trying to tell him something? Alexander is also tormented by the fact that he had to leave the Stockholm police force in humiliation, with his reputation damaged. After years apart, Sofia reconnects with her mother and is determined to discover who her father is. The towns closed community treats the eager new neighbours with reserve. The couple cannot even rely on the local pastor, who organizes strange meetings. Alexander and Sofia soon sense that something horrifying is hidden in Ormaryd and the nearby forests. Written by the Kallentoft writing duo, this mysterious, atmospheric thriller explores a cult and the expanding boundaries of evil. The book is in Slovak.
