This teaching aid is the second part of a series of materials for alternative communication. It includes methodology and recommendations for teaching social reading with the use of process diagrams, which present sets of structured activities. They are primarily intended for students with intellectual disabilities of varying degrees, students on the autism spectrum and students with impaired communication skills. They can also be used in sheltered workshops, sheltered housing and homes for people with disabilities. The diagrams cover personal hygiene, household work, cooking and dining, living in society, and simple work procedures. The material consists of loose worksheets that can be used according to the individual needs of the student or client. The number of images varies according to the complexity of each process. The individual pictures have no text, but labels can be added according to the abilities and needs of the student or client, so that the names match their level of intellectual ability. Important parts of the black-and-white illustrations are emphasised with thicker lines. The illustrations are by Jitka Mllerov.
