This Czech-language theoretical booklet on wood is designed for practical activities in grades 6 and 7 of primary school and the lower grades of multi-year grammar schools. It covers the nature of our country; forests and the importance and characteristics of trees; trees as a source of wood; forestry; wood as an important raw material for the national economy; the structure and properties of wood; defects, pests and diseases affecting wood; the classification of wood according to hardness and heartwood; and the timber industry, including the production of veneers, plywood and boards made from agglomerated wood.
