Swordfish

The swordfish is a large fish distinguished by its characteristic elongated upper jaw, which extends into a sword-shaped projection. This species is an active predator that inhabits the open sea in warm and temperate waters around the world, often far from the coast. Its long sword probably serves to catch prey and for defence. Swordfish are excellent hunters that can swim rapidly and dive deep into marine waters. They often leap above the surface and can reach speeds of up to 110 km/h over short distances.
