She could not climb. She wanted to be a saleswoman like Aunt Bedika, who had large breasts. She hated the church she was forced to attend and did not want to take her brother to kindergarten because he was fat and other people had to help her get him into his tights. She loved books and could not understand why others did not. Her school satchel had a different fastening, and she thought that was why people drew diamonds in her favourite book. These short chapters humorously reflect village life, the troubles of growing up and the difficult relationship with parents who married solely because of village conventions, while showing that life can also be viewed from its lighter side, even if sometimes one has to wait a while for that moment. What seemed like a fact in childhood and a bad dream at fifteen grew, at eighteen, into something worth attempting suicide over. In the very end, however, we discover that every problem has only two points of view, and the positive one wins.
