Star Wars Legends: Traitor Stover Matthew Woodring (2002)

After the capture of Coruscant, the mighty heart of the New Republic, a stunned galaxy fears that nothing can stop the Yuuzhan Vong. Yet the crushing defeat produces one small miracle: Jacen Solo is alive, although he can scarcely imagine himself in stranger circumstances. The young Jedi Knight is in the care of Vergere, a fascinating creature of mystery and power whose intentions are difficult to fathom and whose cruelties are rarely concealed. This master of inscrutable arts has much to teach Jacen, for she holds the key to a new way of experiencing the Force and taking it to another leveldangerous, dazzling and perhaps deadly. In the wrong hands, the tremendous energies of the Force can be devastating, and others are watching Jacens progress closely, patiently awaiting the moment when he is ready for their own dire purposes. Everything now lies in the shadows, but whatever happens, whether Jacens newfound mastery unleashes light or darkness, he will never be the same Jedi again.
