Srden – Nejkrsnj ansony 1968-2018 – 2 LP

This two-record gatefold compilation presents 20 of Hana Zagorovs finest chansons from 19682018. A unique singer with an exceptional repertoire, Zagorov is admired for the richly varied quality of her musical legacy, with her chansons ranking especially highly. From the late 1960s, she first attracted attention through beat arrangements of ballads with excellent lyrics, performed by a singer and actress gifted with dramatic talent. She remained devoted to this demanding area of popular music for more than five creative decades. The melodies of Karel Svoboda, J. Wykrent and J. Zmoek, as well as those of O. Brzobohat and Radza, were strengthened by her own lyrics or by her careful selection of words by Z. Ryt, P. k, P. Vrba and M. Horek. With feeling and natural credibility, she addressed her loyal audience through songs about love, joy, worries, encounters, partings and memories. From her debut on Ostrava radio and her long collaboration in Prague with K. Vgner, she later moved to D. Hdls Vylovka studio, where her latest songs were recorded. Zagorov did not possess the dark alto associated with the French chanson tradition, but without artificiality or excessive expression she conveyed powerful emotions and her characteristic kindness. The compilation, selected by Lubo K, includes Hany (Honey), Obraz smutn sleny, Mrtv lska, On je nkdo (Youre a Lady), Kapky, Lto, je mi lto (Vendo tutto), Mys dobrch nadj, Vm mlo (Shes Always a Woman), Slva je bl (Niech yje bal), Rozhovor v tichu, Bernek (Zabavki Pana Boga), Kad jednou zaplat, Krev a roubky, Adieu (Ladieu), Ztra se zvedne vtr (Vivre en toi), U nemm kdla (Je ne suis quune chanson), Andl strn, Tygr z hotelu, Mon jsem zaklet (Plus je pense toi) and Ciz (U-Turn Lili).
