Smycov kvintet G dur, op. 77, Klavrn kvintet . 2 A dur, op. 81, – CD

The kampa Quartet, established through recordings devoted mainly to Czech composers such as Janek, Dvok and Smetana, chooses two charming quintets from Dvoks mature period for this recording. In the String Quintet in G major, the temperament and vitality of the outer movements alternate with the gentle, characteristically Dvokian lyricism of the slow movement. The piano part in the Piano Quintet in A major is exceptionally brilliant and rewarding for the pianist, and Dvok achieves an ideal symbiosis between the piano and the string instruments. The kampa Quartet is joined by the promising French double bassist Laurne Durantel and the charismatic British pianist Kathryn Stott. Stott is a sought-after chamber musician with numerous premieres to her credit, including concertos by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Michael Nyman, and long-term collaborations with musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and Janine Jansen.
