This Czech-language book explores sun-sign astrology, a popular form of fortune-telling also known as astrology of the sun signs. It is a simplified form of traditional Western astrology. This simple method of divination usually determines everything according to the sun sign, which represents the basic value of classical planetary astrology. It also works with other astrological concepts, including the planets that rule the individual signs and the so-called houses traditionally associated with the signs and planets. The book describes the relationships between these basic values and their meanings. It discusses the origins and development of astrology, a doctrine whose roots reach back to ancient Mesopotamia, and recalls the identification of the stars with gods on which the ancient belief in the power of the stars over human destinies was based. It explains what the zodiac is, when and how it originated, and what its signs represent. It also mentions the problem of precession, as a result of which the signs no longer correspond to the constellations bearing the same names, something that skeptics say casts doubt on our sun signs. The book also examines the periods of the sun signs, how they are defined and determined, the so-called decans, and the planetary rulers. It presents the traditional meanings of the astrological planets, their signatures, meaning the things under their influence, as well as the numbers associated with them, including the planets’ magical and lucky numbers. Another section discusses the twelve astrological houses, their traditional connections with the planets and zodiac signs, and their meanings. Each house has its own planetary ruler and so-called natural sign, governs a particular area of human destiny and corresponds to a particular age period. This forms the basis of the so-called twelve-house method, which is used to examine the past, present and future. In the relevant table, readers can find an age range and use the corresponding house to discover what that period signifies. Another part of the book examines the zodiac signs, discussing their division into groups according to shared traits and characteristics, describing their basic character and destiny-related features, and presenting their signatures, including lucky numbers. The traditional meanings of the sun signs are described in greater detail, with differences between men and women addressed in a section on the sun signs of men and women. Other topics include sexual astrology, which examines men’s and women’s relationship to sex according to their sun signs, as well as partnership, health and career choice according to the sun signs.
