Setkn s Karlem apkem Novotn Frantiek (2024)

This literary fiction offers an unconventional, lightly exaggerated portrait of the writer, philosopher and, above all, human being Karel apek rather than an academic study. Frantiek Novotn originally created a successful 80-part radio series in which, as a twenty-first-century poet and radio presenter crossing the boundaries of time, he conversed with a writer from the previous century, whose voice was performed by actor Ludk Munzar. apeks replies were drawn from his essays, feuilletons and newspaper articles, each focused on an engaging subject. The book is based on this successful radio series and selects its finest material. Many of Karel apeks words remain highly relevant today. In every age, people in power invoke historical figures without adopting what mattered most in their conduct: wisdom, honesty and humanity.
