First published in 1942, this German-language edition presents Zdenk Jirotkas classic work of Czech humorous literature. Saturnin has appeared in more than twenty Czech-language editions and has been successfully adapted for film and television, while theatrical productions continue to be staged. In 2009, readers voted it the most popular book in Czech Televisions Book of My Heart poll, and in 2018 it won the prestigious Magnesia Litera award in the Book of the Century category.
