Rusalka Kvapil Jaroslav (2020)

This bilingual edition presents Jaroslav Kvapils poem, which became famous as the libretto for Antonn Dvoks opera of the same name. Kvapil drew inspiration from Hans Christian Andersens fairy tale The Little Mermaid, but developed the characters psychology in greater depth. Through subtle poetic techniques and dramatic pacing, he evokes mysterious echoes of the work of Karel Jaromr Erben. These influences are reflected in a text that feels nostalgically familiar yet innovative. The edition includes illustrations by Ji Grus and an afterword by Geoffrey Chew. The text is presented in Czech and English.
