Rules of Magic (2021)

Everyone needs a little magic in their lives. The Rules of Magic is the long-awaited prequel to Practical Magic, introducing the aunts from that novel: sisters Frances and Jet, and their brother Vincent. From the beginning, their mother Susanna knows they are unique. Franny has skin as pale as milk and blood-red hair, and can commune with birds; Jet is shy as well as beautiful, and knows what others are thinking; while charismatic Vincent seems destined for trouble. Susanna therefore sets down some rules of magic: no walking in moonlight, no red shoes, no wearing black, no cats, no crows, no candles and certainly no books about magic. Yet the Owens siblings are determined to discover who they really are. Each follows a life-changing path filled with secrets and truths, devastation and joy, magic and love. Despite the warning passed down through their family for centuries, that love is a curse for the Owens family, they strive to break the rules and find true love. Set against Manhattan in the 1960s, this enchanting tale explores magic, romantic love and the bond between siblings.
