This Czech-language audiobook presents Franz Kafkas bitterly grotesque and essentially sad story of lifes transformations in a distinctive performance by the young actor Jan Buda, known mainly for his film roles as various eccentrics. The Kafkaesque theme and melancholy of the story, in which a man suddenly transforms into a huge, seemingly repulsive insect while retaining a human soul, suit the actor perfectly. Jan Buda underlines the satirical moments in the situations and especially in the characters dialogue with an expressive, at times almost caricature-like interpretation.
