Proces Kafka Franz (2025)

Franz Kafkas The Trial may not appeal to everyone: it has a reputation as a gloomy, difficult book, wrapped in a cloak of unanswered questions for people in a hurry. Yet even that haste contains questions that become urgent when looking back over the final days allotted to a person: Have I made full use of the time assigned to me? This edition is free of established myths. Hanu Karlachs fresh, thoroughly contemporary translation presents an enduring yet ever-changing story about a young man seeking answers. Unlike those around himin the office, the bank, the boarding house or on the streethe can perceive the consequences of human actions, though never with complete clarity, which is why his journey is lined with mistakes. His allotted time is filled with material akin to that found in another breath-taking novel, Camuss The Stranger, which might also have been the title of Kafkas book. Have we lost our way, or are we truly following our own path? The contents are in Czech.
