This adapted Czech prose book for learners of Czech as a foreign language presents ten legends connected with well-known locations in Prague. Students discover humorous, magical, ghostly and tragic stories told in the city for centuries, including legends about the Golem, Loreto and Hanu, the master clockmaker of the Old Town Astronomical Clock, as well as lesser-known tales about devils in Emauzy and the origin of the rollers decorating a window in Kampa near Charles Bridge. The book also serves as an unusual guide to Prague and a testimony to its past. Illustrations and photographs of the associated locations accompany the texts. Each legend includes grammar and vocabulary exercises, and the book contains a Czech-English-German-Russian glossary, an answer key and access to audio recordings of the complete book. The contents are in Czech, and the book is suitable for learners at A2 level.
