Povdky malostransk (2026)

This Czech-language adaptation of Jan Nerudas Tales of the Lesser Quarter is published as part of a series of adapted Czech prose for students of Czech as a foreign language. The stories, now presented in a clearer new graphic design, introduce the life and work of the nineteenth-century Czech poet, prose writer and journalist Jan Neruda, whose writing is closely connected with Prague. With gentle irony and psychological insight, they portray the people of the Lesser Town in Prague, offering a glimpse into the forgotten charm of the old world as well as timeless portraits of human character. The book contains a short profile of Neruda, six adapted stories and brief information about the house signs of old Prague, along with grammar and vocabulary exercises for each text, a Czech-English-German-Russian glossary and an answer key. It also includes free access to a complete audiobook recording and is intended for intermediate and upper-intermediate students at level B1.
