This CD is a reissue of Michael Kocbs first solo album, expanded with eight bonus tracks. As an instrumentalist, singer, composer and arranger, Kocb has been a major figure on the Czech cultural scene since the second half of the 1970s. After moving from classical music through jazz and jazz rock, he joined Prask vbr, a Czech version of the new wave distinguished by exceptional musicianship. His major film, theatre, exhibition and other projects of the 1980s were followed by a growing interest in chanson, leading ultimately to this solo debut. The album contains studio recordings from 1986 to 1988, with lyrics that develop from ironic dadaism into layered stories, chiefly written by Michal Horek. Songs such as Sebastin, Chrli and J rasisty nikdy neml rd are framed by the wild song Kdy pijede Kocbinka, tracing a transition from clever humour to even more thoughtful material. Kocb, Pavlek, ok and Krypn, joined by guests Pokorn, Kulhnek and Chlumeck, create an engaging listen featuring instruments such as Drumtrack, guitar synthesizer and drumulator. The CD bonuses extend Kocbs work across the years 1982 to 2016, including songs for himself, his daughter Natlie, Anna Rusticano and Jindra Malk, as well as music connected with Bratislavsk lyra and a rock-fusion excursion. The tracklist includes Kdy pijede Kocbinka, ivot m tp, No a co ti schz, Bludit dn, Kaskadr, Sebastin, Chrli, Pn vtah, J rasisty nikdy neml rd, Sny spravedlivch, Sei tu, Co mm ct, Promi, ABC and Hbitov.
