Should a child be prepared for school, or should the school be ready for every child? Kindergartens often say that starting primary school is very demanding for children and that they need thorough preparation, while primary schools argue that kindergarten programs are too relaxed and that children only play. This book considers the role kindergarten should fulfil in preparing children to enter primary school, what should not be neglected during the final year before school, and what is unnecessary. It examines which activities are suitable, whether worksheets, group work and childrens self-assessment belong in school preparation, and whether the expectations of everyone involved can be brought into harmony for the benefit of children. The book draws on the experiences of the authors, especially kindergarten teachers. The contents are in Czech.
