In his best-known work, Leo Strauss describes and evaluates the reasons that led to the rejection of natural law. He explains the consequences of this rejection and why the arguments against natural law are invalid. To those who rejected it in the name of unlimited tolerance, he points out the paradox of their choice. According to Strauss, the more we educate reason, the more we educate nihilism. He also recalls that the inevitable practical consequence of nihilism is fanatical obscurantism and reaction.
