Pbh o ohni a popelu Motl Petr (2025)

This Czech-language novella takes readers to the beginning of the twentieth century, where it explores the conflict between two ways of life: one tied to a city undergoing rapid growth in the metallurgical industry, and the other rooted in the mountains and nature. Anton Rechtman is a master at the Martin furnace in Karlova hu, while his beloved, Tereza Foldynov, comes from the mountains above Star Hamry. The narrative flows freely and is enriched by beautiful expressions from the Ostrava and Frdek-Mstek dialects. It also skilfully draws on Petr Bezrus powerful ballad Maryka Magdonova. The contents are in Czech.
