Oteven nebe a oteven srdce – Vbor z korespondence Heller Jan (2025)

This hardcover book presents a selection of Jan Hellers correspondence, revealing a theologian, scholar of religion and Old Testament specialist who combined erudition with humanity and precision with an understanding of the human condition. Written over several decades to family, friends, students and colleagues, the letters reflect not only his personal life but also the spiritual and intellectual history of Czech Protestantism in the second half of the twentieth century. Hellers language is clear, thoughtful and warm. In every letter we encounter a man for whom faith is not a theory but a way of being with and for others. The book traces his journey from a young theology student to a mature teacher who could open both a text and the human soul. Its final section contains nine new letters written by his sons and students for the centenary of his birth, continuing a conversation that never ended. The contents are in Czech.
