Original Daughter Wei Jemimah (2025)

In Singapore in 1996, Genevieve Yang is an only child living with her parents and grandmother in a single-room flat in Bedok. Her life changes when Arin appears, the shameful legacy of a grandfather long believed dead. The sisters grow up inseparable, collaborating as they navigate working-class Singapore, where relentless pressure to achieve demands sacrifices in imagination, work and play. As the rapidly modernising, winner-takes-all world threatens to leave one behind while the other’s star rises, Gen and Arin must weigh their loyalties, the bonds between them and the cost of success. Their story exposes the fault lines of Singaporean society, the desperate need for acceptance and the yearning to be loved.
