This continuation of stories about the rugged and romantic region in western France takes readers to places where the Czech painter Jan Zrzav worked, to the mysterious island of le de Sein, where even birds do not like to fly, and along the trail of Breton fishermen, whose livelihood came from the sea even as they fought it for their lives. It also visits a typical Breton pilgrimage, while never straying far from the coast, introduces one of the last lighthouse keepers, and sets sail across the Atlantic on a vessel built according to Jules Vernes plans with the popular author. The richly illustrated text includes photographs and original colour illustrations by another lover of Brittany, Adolf Born.
