Nezapomenuteln a jedinen – CDmp3

This collection of adult recordings from the Supraphon archive presents the legendary actor Vlastimil Brodsk across half a century, from his youth to the end of his life. His work for children has already been released many times, so this selection focuses on performances for adult listeners. The earliest recordings of the young Brodsk date from 1944 and 1946 and include Frantiek Nmecs Sentimental Romance and Haeks The Good Soldier vejk. The 1960s are represented chiefly by apeks War with the Newts, in which Brodsk plays Bondy. The 1970s feature his performances in apeks R.U.R. and Vanuras Summer of Caprice. The 1980s and 1990s include readings of Ota Pavels A Full Crate of Champagne and Karel Poleks Men out of Play, as well as Neil Simons Come Blow Your Horn and the one-act plays An Officials Morning by N. V. Gogol and A Reluctant Tragedian by A. P. Chekhov. Brodsk won listeners over with a clear, unpretentious delivery combined with ironic humour and an engagingly emerging comic quality. His acting was always believable, sensitive and sincere.
