New age, ezo, alternativn spiritualita (2026)

This Czech-language book examines new spiritualities in the West, focusing on the phenomenon known in English as new age and informally called ezo in Czech. Religion scholar Zuzana Marie Kostiov traces its emergence from secularization and Western esotericism, maps its historical development from the 1960s to the present, and presents its key ideas, institutions and forms of spiritual practice. The book neither criticizes nor promotes alternative spirituality, but seeks to understand it and show how it is connected with the history and lifestyles of people in the contemporary West.
