Maika, Kippa and Ren return to their world, only to discover that an entire year has passed. Zinn is now in the hands of Maikas father, the megalomaniacal Lord Doctor. In the relative safety of the pirate-controlled Spice Islands, Maika must recover, reunite with her friends and find a way to stop Lord Doctors murderous rampage before he destroys the known world. In the ninth volume of the Monstress series, collecting issues 49 to 54, Maika faces new challenges with the help of old friends.
